Dear Families,
Our students have been practicing how to pay attention. “We pay attention with our eyes and ears, but not our mouths. Where the eyes go, the brain follows.” Listening is an active practice and takes time to learn. Students have been practicing facing the speaker, putting their eyes on them, and actively listening. This is also a wonderful way to practice showing respect.
BOOK OPTIONS:
Look out, Patrick! By Paul Geraghty
Come Along, Daisy by Jane Simmons
Pay Attention, Emily Brown! by Linda Burton
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr.
Fine Motor Skill Development: Did you know that fine motor skills are important because they enable crucial daily tasks like eating, dressing, writing, and independence? Did you also know that these same skills contribute to academic success, creativity, and cognitive development by improving hand-eye coordination and the ability to manipulate objects? Daily, students at the ECC take part in routines that help develop fine motor skills. However, these skills cannot just be developed through school. We need your help at home, too. Click here for a list of activities that you can do at home to help support your child’s motor development.
Homecoming Spirit Week: At this point, you should have received information about Homecoming Spirit Week which will take place during the week of September 29 - October 3. Click here to view the Homecoming packet which includes the daily themes and the run of events. We invite you to join us on October 3 at 10:00 a.m. for the annual Homecoming Parade and hope that you will come back to the O.A.C. (Oakridge Athletic Complex across the street) for the football game that evening. Purchase Homecoming t-shirts by September 23, 2025. Proceeds from t-shirt sales go toward the fireworks show after the game. Students can wear their 2025 Homecoming t-shirt to school on Friday, October 3.

Warm regards,
