Dr. Sarah Schecter, Head of Lower School

December 12, 2025

Dear Lower School Parents,

If you get a chance to visit campus next week, be sure to check out all of the beautiful artwork in the FAPH (as well as checking out the Lost and Found tables by the office). You will be certain to see cheerful and festive art from some of your favorite young artists.

Most Fridays I eat lunch with a variety of Lower School students who are selected by their teachers for some outstanding quality, like being grateful or flexible or kind. This time of year the students are eager to talk about plans for Winter Break, gifts they are giving or hoping to get, and elf antics. There is a wealth of information each week for me to learn - from elf on the shelf protocols to current toys and games. Visiting with each small group of students is a joy. We have fun discussions about holiday traditions, travel, and family plans, and I get to know students on a personal level.

Holiday Treasures was a big success. The array of thoughtful gifts, the helpers assisting each child to find perfect presents, the careful gift wrapping and tagging, all the things that help create a wonderful shopping experience and more importantly an opportunity for our children to put others first. Thank you to OPC and all of the volunteers that made this happen for our community!

Next week we have a full slate of special dress days and our class parties on Thursday. See the graphic below for more information. Owls’ Nest is available for students as usual until Friday, when they will close early at 3:00 p.m. It will be a fun week!

Warm regards,

Sarah Schecter
Head of Lower School
