Tamika Dees, Head of Middle School

August 22, 2025

Greetings, Middle School Families,

The First Day of School was nothing short of amazing!! Our students were prepared and ready for an “Out of this World” adventure. This week, students met with their grade-level Deans, where they learned about their Deans’ roles and student expectations. Our Deans will support students as needed and help create an environment where learning flourishes.

During “Owl Council,” we discussed the importance of positive deposits, filling buckets, and being organized. Students were encouraged to impart a kind word to someone,  such as, “Keep being you,” “You can do it,” or “I like your style!”

Our commitment is to maintain this dialogue throughout the year, fostering a challenging and nurturing environment where our students feel a strong sense of inclusion and belonging. We believe that this sense of community is crucial for their growth and development.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday, August 25, at our MS Parent Night at 6:00 p.m. in the FAPH. You will be able to hear from our Parents’ Club Chair, Head of Security, and meet your child’s teachers. Our Head of Security, Eric Petrosian, will be present at 5:30 for parents to receive this year’s lanyards and gate tags. Wear comfy shoes!

We also encourage you to join the 2025 - 2026 grade level Remind Groups for quick reminders and updates.

Please come out and support our Middle School sports teams! This is an opportunity for students to cheer on their classmates and create lifelong memories. Athletic events are posted on the Athletic calendar on the parent portal.

Finally, note that the updated 2025-2026 Family Handbook is now available in the My Oakridge Parent Portal. The handbook provides information about topics such as dress code, code of conduct, our school's guidelines for responsible use of technology, as well as division-specific content. Also, in order for students to attend field trips and participate in athletics, all health records for your child must be 100% compliant in Magnus.
